Designer Statement
As a child I longed to know more about them...two lowly dogs, neither beautiful nor smart, yet their names spoke of boundless character. My mother remembers little of Agnes and Hoss, only that each day they'd wait side by side on the stairs for my grandmother to return from work. There is a single grainy black and white photo that depicts this as well as their unusual postures - heads turned to the same side, hindquarters on one step, paws on the other. I've never forgotten that photo or those curious names, and their untold story still tugs at my imagination.

I've long been entranced with the use of pattern and color to enhance our surroundings, and so it was a natural transition from artist and designer using found fabrics in my work to designing my own. After thousands of years of production there is something about silk that still manages to capture the imagination and sense of old-world luxury. For each of these collections, I've chosen to work with a heavy weight silk charmeuse which combines that ultimate silky texture with long-standing durability. I'm also drawn to silk's ability to retain color as this is virtually unparalleled in the textile world. I believe that color should be embraced year-round. It is such a simple thing to lift the spirits and a wonder we so often reject it. Lastly, I'm a stickler for quality because with it comes long-term enjoyment of that which you've worked hard to obtain. I hope you enjoy these Agnes & Hoss collections as much as I have creating them, and that you always follow your own paths of exploration and discovery whenever possible. You never know where they will take you.
